Why should I make Home Church a priority?
Without a doubt, Jesus was and is in the midst of large crowds. He frequented the hub of corporate worship - the temple - taught hundreds gathered on the shore and fed thousands on the mountainside. He was very much present and engaging as He walked the streets of the city.
But it is equally clear that Jesus spent the bulk of His time in close association with His small group. It was with His small group that He did the most of His worship, His teaching and His ministry. It was through His small group of disciples that He created a place for deeper relationship, support and accountability.
As Jesus operated then, He operates today! While He meets with us in corporate worship, it's in home church that being a disciple of Jesus goes beyond rote learning of abstract concepts and transfers to the development of living and ministering like Jesus. It's in our home churches where Jesus applies His instruction to our hearts, refines us through genuine relationships, releases us to serve using our gifts, and develops new leaders for His church.
Dare we say that regular home church involvement is a greater priority for the Westside Vineyard than regular attendance at a Sunday worship service? We think so! If you consider yourself a member of our community at the Westside Vineyard, we urge you to make sharing your journey with a home church a priority.
